Our Story

Northside Community church commenced as a new church in the Wanneroo area in 1980.

Pastors Hardy and Vicky with their four young girls formed much of the congregation and there were times where they were in fact the whole congregation! Over the years, the church has grown and moved location a few times.

In March 2018 Northside settled in its own facility in Franklin Lane Joondalup. We normally see around 100 people come out for our Sunday services and there is still a welcoming family appeal.

Northside Community Church has been a source of inspiration for many families and singles over this journey and has been at the foundation of many lifelong friendships that have formed.

Today, Northside Community Church still strives to increase its influence and reach in the community whilst welcoming each new person and visitor as if they are family.

Our DNA

Northside Community Church is a group of everyday people that meet together to worship God and realize the plans that He has for us.

We believe that our mission is to impact the community in a positive way – by speaking and living out the good news of Jesus.

Our Values

Authentic [Real, true, trustworthy, credible, legitimate]

Possibly the number one criticism of the Church (at large) is that it is not real.

That is; It’s full of hypocrites. We want to be real. We want to be people who acknowledge our shortcomings, but press on in the journey – to find all that God has for us.

Generous [kind, unselfish, hospitable, good, open, big hearted]

The bible calls us to to be generous people. For some, it seems natural, whereas others have to work on it.

Our vision is to be a church of generous people.

Generous in spirit, generous with our time, with our money and with our words.

We want to be the people who make others feel special after spending time with them.

Family [blood, group, people, tribe, generations]

For those in families, we highlight the biblical principals and importance of the family unit. There is so much that we can learn about how to contribute to our families. We also highlight the church as a family and how we can relate to one another with family principals.

Community [people, society, public, neighbour]

We are a part of the Joondalup Community and it is important to us that we see ourselves as an integrated contributing community member.

We are also a church community and care for those within our community.

Further, each member of Northside is a part of their own circles of community – work, school, family, sport and social groups.

It is our intention to learn how to be the best we can be in community – and to put that into practice.

Small Group Leader

Luke and Melanie Yeoman have been serving at Northside for some decades now! Over the years, they have been pastoring in many different roles such as Youth, Worship and Small Groups. In 2023 they became the Senior Pastors of the Church and are passionate about leading a local Church that will make a difference in the community.

Our pastoral team includes Hardy and Vicky Churlew who were the founding pastors of Northside Community Church. They have been in full time ministry for most of their married life and amongst many other roles, they now head up pastoral care for Northside.

What we believe

Northside Community Church is a part of the Foursquare Church which operates in every continent of the world with 8+ million members in nearly 70,000 Churches spread throughout 145 Nations. The term “Foursquare” is a Biblical term used of the tabernacle (a temple in a tent) in the Book of Exodus. The term “Foursquare Gospel” was used by the denomination’s founder, Aimee Semple McPherson to represent that which is equally balanced on all sides.

The Foursquare Gospel is in complete harmony with traditional Christian doctrine and is summarised as below. We believe that Jesus Christ is:

 The Saviour

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him…” –Isaiah 53:5 (Titus 2:14, Isaiah 55:7, Hebrews 7:25, Isaiah 1:18)

The Baptiser With The Holy Spirit

“For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit… you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” –Acts 1:5,8 (John 14:16-17, Acts 2:4, Acts 8:17, Acts 10:44-46, 1 Corinthians 3:16)

 The Healer

“He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses…” –Matthew 8:17 (Mark 16:17-18, Matthew 9:5-6, Acts 4:29-30)

 The Soon Coming King

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout… the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” –1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (Titus 2:12-13, Matthew 24:36-44, Hebrews 9:28, Luke 19:13, Luke 12:35-37.)
